Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement. In animation figures are created and/or edited on the computer using bitmap graphics or created and edited using vector graphics. This includes automated computerized versions of traditional animation techniques such as of twinning, morphing, onion skinning and interpolated rot scoping.

3D Studio Max (3ds max)
It is becoming a popular choice for next-gen video game developers as it has powerful controls for realistic lighting, shading and dynamics, as well as texturing and scene management tools. 3ds max is often used for game development, and was used for such games as Grand Theft Auto 3, Halo, Metal Gear Solid 2, and many more.
SoftImage|XSI
SoftImage|XSI is an industry-renowned 3-D nonlinear production environment which has a large following in the film and videogame markets. It was used in films like Star Wars: Episode II and Moulin Rouge, as well as numerous video games.
LightWave 3D
LightWave 3D is very small then its competitors and is easier to use. It includes a number of tools such as soft-body dynamics, particles, hair and fur, unlimited render nodes etc.
